Anna Alsina Bardagí

Barcelona, Spain

In her artworks, Anna explores the manipulation of light, heat and gravity through optical glass by combining kiln casting techniques with precision optical polishing.

Her sculptures require experimental techniques as well as knowledge of physics, chemistry and math to control the internal shapes in the glass. Internal designs are formed during the casting process by altering the glass elements before they enter the oven. She only uses lead- and arsenic-free eco-optical glass to maintain the purity of her work.

Anna has always been fascinated by the laws of physics and the universe and her art is driven by a desire to challenge the limits of gravity and the dimensional spaces inside optical glass.
